Director, Board Chair
Bruce Royal is committed to sharing the Gospel and assisting people realize their various God-given developmental and leadership potentials. Bruce studied Mining Engineering in a Canadian College and is a retired Health Safety & Risk Manager who has worked out his career in the mining industry. Both Bruce and his wife Sharon recently shared a call from God to leave their current place of residence in Australia, sell their possessions and come to Sihanoukville, Cambodia to serve God before returning to Canada to re-unite with their family of 3 sons and 3 grandsons.
Bruce and Sharon have been Christians for the past 35 years and have raised their 3 sons to trust and follow Jesus Christ in the unique call that He has placed on their individual lives. Bruce and Sharon are passionate about the family unit and the roles and responsibilities of a Christian mother and father in developing a positive environment within the house hold by striving to be a consistent example and demonstrate to the children trust, honour and reliance on the Word of God.
During his Christian journey, Bruce has been involved in various ministries including facilitation of home groups, teaching Sunday School and youth groups, music ministry, nursery programs, preaching / teaching as well as community support initiatives such as English training.
Bruce and Sharon are praying and trusting God to reveal His plan for how they can partner with various ministries to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with local and international people by developing meaningful relationships.
Ted Bendell, P.Eng.
Ted Bendell currently serves as Secretary of the Board of Directors, and has served on the Board of the youth centre essentially since its beginnings in 2005 as The Open End Youth Centre (with the exception of about one year). As one of his ministries, he drafted the new incorporation documents for the Youth Centre that included its becoming a Chartered Chapter of Youth for Christ Canada. He also serves as a Deacon at Bible Fellowship Assembly.
Ted came to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ in February of 1972 and was involved in pastoral ministry in one of Canada’s largest denominations from that time until the summer of 1989. He continues to be an occasional preacher (mostly at Bible Fellowship Assembly) and is also active in leadership of a small Bible study group.
Ted is married to Peggy (more than 40 years!) and together they raised four sons. They are the proud grandparents of three beautiful and exceptionally talented grand children. Ted has been employed as an electrical engineer since 1993 in various consulting engineering firms in Timmins and Peterborough.
Paul Rokeby is married to Selena and they are the parents of two married adult children, Alysia and Andrew. Paul is a Chartered Professional Accountant and a partner of MNP LLP. He has served at Timmins First Baptist Church as treasurer, Sunday school teacher and nursery worker.
In her earlier years, Suzy was involved in various youth ministries including camps, drop in centres and Sunday School superintendent. She has over 25 years of various not for profit boards having served in various capacities, overlapping her involvement in Human Resources and Quality Assurance as well as overseeing the management of her own company.
Suzy graduated from Ontario Bible College with a BRE and then attended George Brown College where she received her diploma nursing. She is now a retired RN. Presently Suzy sits as chair of the CTYFC board and on the YFC National Board of Directors. She attends First Baptist Church in the winter and Light and Life Chapel in Tobermory in the summer. Suzy is the proud mother of two grown sons and an very proud grandmother of three.
Matthew and his wife Dana have been married since 1998 and have 1 daughter and 2 sons. Matthew and Dana have recently been commended to the Lord’s work by Grace Bible Chapel in Timmins where they run the various children’s programs including the Sunday School, Youth Group, and the midweek Kids Club. Matthew is also serving the Lord as an itinerant Bible teacher throughout Northern Ontario.
Norm Ladouceur is a graduate of Haileybury School of Mines – Mining Engineering Technician program, and is presently the Corporate Manager of Health and Safety for a Canadian based mining company. Norm’s work has taken him to many places around the world. Norm and Margaret reside in Timmins and have two daughters – Sara (Calgary) and Rachel (Timiskaming Shores).
Norm has been a Christian for the past 36 years, Norm and Margaret have raised their 2 daughters to trust and follow Jesus Christ. Norm is very passionate about children and youth and has served as Youth Leader is several churches that he has attended. Norm sits on the Canadian Board for Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF). During his Christian journey, Norm has been involved in various ministries including teaching Sunday school, Youth group leader, on Missions trips to Haiti, and Church board member.
Sarah became a Christian at a young age and has served in various ministries throughout the years, including Sunday school, nursery, music, discipleship and outreach. Most recently, Sarah and her husband Marc were involved in missions where she supported her husband in pastoral ministry. Together they are the parents of three boys. Sarah holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in linguistics from the University of Toronto and has been employed in the legal publishing industry for the past 17 years.
